The History Behind the RAM Hood Ornament

RAM is brand that is filled with tradition, and history. The automaker has created a lineup of dependable trucks that can be spotted immediately on the streets of Colma, California by the automaker’s popular logo.  And, since the RAM logo plays such a major role in the brand it only seems right that loyal RAM enthusiasts like us here at Stewart Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM know the history behind it.

A University of Michigan professor created the logo back in 1931. Prior to deciding on the RAM, the mountain lion, tiger, and eventually the mountain sheep, all animals that will climb any obstacle were considered before a leaping RAM was agreed upon to be automaker’s the hood ornament.

Today,  the RAM’s dominant horns are the center of the RAM brand as the trucks themselves embodies the character of a bighorn ram, which is an animal known for its work ethic, and the ability to lead, opposed to traveling along with the rest of the pack.

Like anything the logo has evolved and updated over time. But, the tradition and core values of the brand are still featured in the RAM logo, and Stewart Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM doesn’t expect this to ever change.
